A Thigh Lift

What is a thigh lift?

As in the case of the upper arms, the thighs are also an area of the body vulnerable to weight fluctuation and loss of skin elasticity. A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, is commonly performed to tighten up loose folds of skin on the upper legs on those who have succeeded with massive weight loss. The procedure, however, can be performed on others to improve body contours.

How is a thigh lift performed?

First, anesthesia is administered to the patient. Then, varying incisions, depending on the location of excess skin and fat, are made to the upper thigh. The excess skin is then removed, the remaining skin repositioned, and the incisions are then closed. Advanced techniques allow incisions to be placed in strategic locations where there will be minimal visibility from scarring. Your surgeon will discuss the types and locations of incisions in your consultation for a thigh lift.

  • Who is a good candidate for a thigh lift?

A thigh lift is commonly performed on people who have succeeded with massive weight loss yet are left with loose folds of skin on the upper legs. It can also be performed on anyone who would like to have trimmer, more toned thighs but cannot accomplish this through diet and exercise.
