Transgender

Transgender | Plastic Surgery Antalya

We give surgery service to transgender and gender nonconforming people to help them fulfill their gender affirming endeavors.

In individuals assigned female at birth, we perform

  • gender-affirming chest surgery or “top surgery” (ie mastectomy or shaping of a male-contoured chest),
  • Facial masculinization through alteration of facial bones, lipofilling, rhinoplasty and facelift / midfacelift procedures.
  • Body contouring procedures typically using liposuction and lipofilling.

In transgender and gender diverse people who are male assigned at birth, we perform

  • Genital gender assignment surgery, namely:
    • Orchiectomy (Removal of testicles)
    • Penectomy (Removal of penile erectile bodies) and vulvoplasty (alteration of external genitalia into feminine shape)
    • Vaginoplasty (Creation of vagina)

We construct the vaginal canal by applying a modified type of penile inversion method. We typically utilize most of the penile skin to create clitoral hood and minor labia. We only use the penile skin covering the root of penis for the entrance of vagina. Urethral mucosa, scrotal skin graft, and full thickness skin grafts harvested from the groins are utilized to line the remaining depth of vagina. Major labia are formed from scrotal skin.

  • Gender-affirming chest surgery or “top surgery” (ie augmentation mammoplasty with implants or shaping of a female-contoured chest),
  • Facial feminization through alteration of facial bones, lipofilling, rhinoplasty, facelift / midface lift, and brow lift procedures.
  • Body contouring procedures typically using liposuction and lipofilling.
  • Hair line advancement and hair transplant

Vaginoplasty performed with this technique requires permanent hair removal prior to surgery. It necessitates at least 4 sessions of laser hair removal 3 weeks apart. The patient should be counseled 3 weeks after the last session to ensure satisfactory hair removal prior to surgery.

Again, for genital gender reassignment surgery, we request two letters of support from mental health clinicians who are knowledgeable about gender identity. A letter from an institution like a university clinic would be enough if signed by more than one expert. A court decision is also requested from Turkish citizens.

We treat our transgender and gender diverse patients in accordance with Standards of Care for the Health of Transsexual, Transgender, and Gender Nonconforming People published by The World Professional Association for Transgender Health promotes the(WPATH).
